The agreement was signed by Mr. Jeroen Pynenburg, CEO of inepro, and Mr. Xinhua Zhou, CEO of Tunkia, establishing a long-term collaboration to support accurate, traceable, and repeatable verification of EVSE energy measurement in line with European regulatory and metrology requirements. The first joint project under this agreement will be the introduction of two portable metrology-grade verification instruments for CPOs, EVSE manufacturers, notified bodies, and other stakeholders.
Addressing measurement accuracy under MID
As EV charging increasingly involves transaction-based energy billing, compliance with the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) and national metrology frameworks has become a key requirement for Charge Point Operators (CPOs), EVSE manufacturers, and public authorities. inepro and Tunkia’s collaboration directly addresses the need for independent verification tools that validate charging accuracy under real-world conditions.
“The transition to regulated EV charging requires measurement systems that are not only accurate at commissioning, but remain stable over time,” said Mr. Jeroen Pynenburg, CEO of inepro. “Our cooperation with Tunkia enables metrology-grade, on-site verification solutions that support MID-aligned conformity assessment, market surveillance, and lifecycle monitoring.”
Mr. Xinhua Zhou, CEO of Tunkia, added: “High-precision measurement is fundamental to legal metrology. Together with inepro, we are delivering portable verification instruments designed to meet the expectations of European metrology authorities, Notified Bodies, and regulatory stakeholders.”
Metrology-grade verification performance
The joint solution delivers high-accuracy AC and DC energy measurement, suitable for verification against MID requirements and national implementations:
- AC and DC power measurement accuracy: ±0.05%
- Verification capability against MID Class A limits (±1%)
The verification methodology supports traceability, repeatability, and documentation requirements commonly applied by Notified Bodies and National Metrology Authorities.
TE1000 and TE1100: Portable verification instruments
The flagship TE1000 and TE1100 are portable verification devices designed for field and production-level testing of EV charging stations. Their mobility enables:
- On-site verification of public charging points
- Factory acceptance testing and production quality control
- Support for market surveillance and periodic re-verification
The devices are intended for use by CPOs, EVSE manufacturers, Notified Bodies, National Metrology Authorities, and inspection bodies, providing a consistent technical basis for accuracy verification throughout the charger lifecycle.
Supporting regulatory confidence in EV charging
By combining inepro’s expertise in European compliance, certification, and testing processes with Tunkia’s precision measurement technology, the partnership contributes to the development of a robust verification framework for EV charging infrastructure in Europe. The collaboration supports regulatory confidence, transparent billing, and consumer protection as EV charging continues to scale across the EU.
The TE1000 and TE1100 will make their debut at Smarter E in Munich, from 23 to 25 June. This marks a significant milestone for Tunkia and inepro Metering, who are now introducing this new generation of technology to Europe. Visitors are warmly invited to visit the inepro & Tunkia booth (B6.131) to experience the powerful, precise capabilities of these advanced portable test devices firsthand.
